Using that option requires elevated privileges, but Apple's Mac App Store forbids applications that use it, and that has really thrown some cold water on solutions like that. Unfortunately, though, I suspect their answer would be "no". Before the development of photographic copiers, a carbon copy was the under-copy of a typed or written document placed over carbon paper and the under-copy sheet itself (not to be confused with the carbon print family of photographic reproduction processes). This is a really small tweak that they can make to make the volume accessible to the root user. The underlying issue is that they are mounting the volume without the "allow_root" option. It might be worth asking the folks at BoxCrypt to fix this. I have a long-term architectural change planned that will give users the option of running a task only when a user is logged in, but that's a pretty big change. CCC scheduled tasks run as the root user so they will load immediately on startup, and so they can run when no one is logged in to the system.

This Standard Backup of your startup disk backs up all of your data, all of your applications, and all of your system settings. While it is technically possible now for CCC to create a bootable clone, it is probably better to do a “Standard Backup”.
